ABOUT Dok


Dok Balo is a soulful, conscious and loving creation. He believes in the power of #onelove whose strength through people is unbreakable. The name Dok Balo is a combination of Doktari and Balozi. Doktari is a satirical informal slung word meaning doctor, given by his friends for Dokbalos' habit of sharing nuggets and insights in conversations. Balozi is a name given to him by a deeply spiritual member of the family who declared him as international. Influenced by many cultures and a fusion of different African cultures He is the embodied sound & spirit of African rhythm. He knows no boundaries and believes the world is for all of us to traverse and enjoy. A teacher, a guide, a student, a friend and a creator; If he is not learning or teaching something, writing music, then he is probably up and about visiting new places and meeting new people and enjoying their culture with them.

Journey

In his new sound, East Africa meets the Caribbean you probably knew him as Balozi  before. He gave us amazing hits. his debut track Jiachilie  got massive airplay on National TV and radio stations across in East Africa and then he naturally started drifting through towards his first Love reggae music because he grew up listening to the likes of Gregory Isaacs, Bob Marley Don Carlos musical youth and all that and he would  sing some of these songs word for word  when he was around 10 years old.
On his previous track nakupenda which was produced by Vicki Pondis  he had gradually started drifting towards his reggae roots. Now after taking a break from the music industry because of family and career he's now back with a bang with his brand new track  DESIRE which is based on the hot lyke Fayah riddim  created by costa rebel, a world class producer who was worked with the likes of a Capleton, little lion sounds, Lutan Fayah and other big reggae artists you did not expect this.
Dok describes Desire as the fire that drives us to achieve great things.
